Style Savvy: Manner Forward is the third installment in the Style Savvy series! The game adds lots of new content to the series along with tons of new items and customization options. Despite never being much into mode myself, I've always loved the idea of dress-up and the games continue to be one of my favorite series. While the game isn't perfect, I feel it adds a lot of things that I hope volition become staples in time to come series–possibly also taking from some stuff not included that had been introduced in the second game. Regardless, I'll relieve most of my thoughts to the master entry. There's a lot to say and the game actually is much ameliorate than its predecessors so if yous enjoyed the previous titles, you lot should definitely pick this one up too!

I'll first with character customization as for a fashion game, that'south really the biggest draw to the series. This game has the most so far with over 19,000 items and thankfully, they are not just hundreds of different colors of the same item spread across several brands. Plenty of older items are back as well as new ones. Unfortunately, many items still have the issue of unique tints that makes it near impossible to discover perfectly matching items. And while there are lots of new items, those several dissimilar colors of the same item across several unlike brands still exist.

Earrings are now featured in the game which is actually overnice, though, they share a slot with glasses which is a bit odd.

While it works for my graphic symbol as I don't ordinarily employ glasses, it'due south unfortunate for people who do use both.

If yous're more than into how your character looks physically, you'll exist happy to know there are over 1,300 Hair Combinations. You can cull bangs separately for most hairstyles and there are tons of colors to choose from (plus highlights!).

Once you beat the primary story, yous can change your graphic symbol'southward skin tone whenever you'd similar and make-up even so continues to exist office of the game as well.

Character creation is also pretty great. While I'd have preferred more middle color, hair color and hair style choices at the start, it does brand up for it in other ways with beingness able to select freckles and dazzler marks, 25 Middle styles, 20 eyebrows, xv lips, eight peel tones, and summit (in one case again just the 3 like in Trendsetters) to choose from. Sadly, body types are all the same withal. Maybe 1 day we'll get body variations.

As for guys, unfortunately male grapheme creation is nevertheless non a thing. Considering the update Japan got where you essentially were able to make a dream beau, I was really hopeful we'd finally encounter it as I know a lot of guys who savor the game. It's an even farther blow as selling male person clothes has been removed completely. You lot can still dress-upwards men as a side style, but y'all accept all the clothes already and you tin can't actually get money from it so it'south something that can be avoided birthday. I never really bothered with the male person stuff in Trendsetters, but I still would've preferred a feature I don't utilize over a characteristic gone forever. Fifty-fifty if selling male clothes is gone, I practise remember the choice to brand a male person character should exist.

Characteristic-wise, rather than just the clothing shop, you eventually get the ability to help out at the Hair Salon, Make-up Salon, be a Model, and Blueprint your own wearing apparel.

I would've liked to accept the Hair and Make-upwards actually be office of my ain store, only it'south non the end of the world. I remember the overnice part about this though is it gives you a way to earn money when you may be low on stock at the clothing store or just demand a break. Because of this, it may have a while for you to go the colors y'all want. To unlock colors, you now need to earn them from Rainbow through photos y'all have. It's a beautiful side-quest kind of thing, but I'd have preferred to have all the colors ahead of time and she be used for some other kind of mode. Information technology gets particularly frustrating at times equally while fourth dimension of twenty-four hours is i thing, some colors require certain seasons and if it's a color you really desire, y'all may be in for a long wait. Such as how I must wait until Spring for the concluding shade of pinkish :( It is kind of fun though–but information technology took longer than I'd have liked to get the hair color I wanted.

Similarly, if you oasis't unlocked the features to practice hair and make-up nonetheless, you lot will have to deal with the randomness of getting your hair and/or make-upward done past their respective owners. They simply ask what you feel like and that is what you will get. Not to mention while make-upward is just tied to colors, hairstyles are unlocked based on what styles you give to customers. Most Customers do have specific requests, so if you're really hoping for a certain side tail or ponytail, it may exist a long while before you've washed enough to unlock them all.

Customers at the Beautician are also just much easier to piece of work with. They will normally evidence you a photo of what they desire (which you can flip over for a memo telling y'all what color each department is from) or merely permit you practise whatsoever and exist happy with it. Sometimes they volition even just buy a Make-up set.

At the Hair Salon, you're first given two questions to ask. One of these will assistance y'all and lead to two additional questions. The other volition non and instead relay the same two questions (which will not always be in the same order). You lot can inquire three questions full. One time three questions accept been asked (even if they are all the aforementioned one), you will take to start doing their hair.

While you do get up to three chances to set it if you did it wrong (or they "forgot to mention something"), it can also be super frustrating and I wish they would say right out what they want or even take a photograph option similar to make-up.

Modeling is pretty cool and offers you lots of fun poses for photos you tin take.

I dearest the decorative frames and it's but a nice side pick in the photo studio.

While not really role of the modeling chore, I as well want to talk about the Fashion Show. You get to actually apparel yourself upwards for once instead of just models and fifty-fifty get to control your actions on the runway.

Information technology's very nice being able to do it yourself. Unfortunately, this gets erstwhile incredibly fast.

Yous accept to do the fashion show three times for the story. Later that, you get to cull the theme and venue design freely. In one case tickets sell out, y'all can offset the show which is fine– great even. For the first time. Ricky will constantly keep y'all upward to date on how close yous are to filling the venue, and once yous practice, you lot get some other mail and an annoying quest marker that will stay at that place until you do another prove. It won't go abroad. This is just an endless stream of shows. And while in the second game information technology was like shooting fish in a barrel to ignore it or even speed it upward, it's not possible in this one.

You Exercise get miniatures from it, and it'south a great fashion to sell out of items you have lots of in stock. Many people volition come to your shop to buy whatever kind of outfit you were wearing during the show. Unfortunately, that doesn't get in less repetitive.

Designer is one of my favorite features as it is a huge improvement to the Collaboration feature from the very first Style Savvy game.

You're able to brand Shirts, Skirts, Pants, Dresses, Tights, Shoes, and fifty-fifty your own keepsake to put on things. Though, one of the downsides is the colors you can utilize are restricted to only those you've found so far. Another is that you need to keep doing Collaboration requests to unlock everything, and there is some randomness involved. Part of which is the day of the week, which means it could take a while until y'all're prompted to finally make what you wanted to.

While the Emblem has all colors unlocked from the offset, it's pre-set palettes. You can't pick and choose from all the available colors. One other consequence is that the emblem is really the but matter you fully get to blueprint– everything else is only picking patterns, decorations, and colors from what yous've unlocked. There is just so much more than they could do with this and I really promise that if it returns, they do a lot more with it.

Sadly, the online store from the past two games does not return. It would've been neat to sell our designs through it and I always loved putting up special coordinated outfits and finding ones I really wanted, simply take non been able to unlock yet.

Custom clothing is able to exist shared through you room address if you display any, but with such limited options with only how much you can do with Clothing, it'south not actually enough to matter and I enjoy sharing other clothes instead.

While character customization got a huge comeback, customization for everything else was largely knocked downwards and missed opportunities they could've taken. Room customization is gone altogether for the new Dollhouse rooms at Caprice Chalet. While it offers you a bit more than customization in what you can choose to put there with bachelor items, the room is incredibly small and you couldn't even recreate your Trendsetters room with that many items.

If the room was a lot bigger or could be expanded, I experience information technology'd be a lot amend… but I even so don't think this was enough of a reason to remove the bedchamber/apartment customization that was included in Trendsetters.

Similarly, I was really hoping the Store interior would work like your apartment did in Trendsetters, but it'due south once again just a way choice you get to pick from a list. You lot can select three different items (the aforementioned ones you buy from Dollhouse Miniatures) to put around the interior you select, just information technology nonetheless feels incredibly lackluster.

The outside also receives this problem, which is now just one gear up– you can no longer pick the walls, door, sign, and outer display separately. This seems similar such a shame as the new item placement matter could've worked well for the latter. I could've put a cake on a table and fifty-fifty specified what constitute, what table, what chair and even what floor pattern and there was only so much opportunity for something great that I feel was completely missed.

Trendsetters:

Manner Forrad:

The window display is in the exact aforementioned boat, in which everything for the Mannequin itself is pretty much the same, the only things you can do for the window display is selection one of the Backgrounds– which also selects what items tin become in it and the floor decorations. You tin't choose any customization decals (like sparkles), a setting (I loved having mine set as a tea party), or the floor separately. You just go stuck with a full background and whatsoever two platforms it comes with for you to put items on.

Trendsetters:

Style Forrad:

In that location'south just then many bug here that are super disappointing when there is and so much customization in the game. I'd beloved to encounter an update that improves this, only if not I hope it'll exist improved in the next game.

Equally for 3DS related functions, the game is uniform with Amiibo. They essentially cause special NPCs (created based off the Mii registered to them) to spawn, who will give you lot a special item if y'all sell them an outfit they love.

There's also StreetPass where you can share your dollhouse room and receive others in return. I dearest both Amiibo and StreetPass and then I'm glad Style Savvy incorporated them (and StreetPass for a second fourth dimension no less!).

Finally, the game is back to real-time like the start game which is something I have mixed feelings about. While it doesn't seem to effect annihilation beyond the time of day for the virtually part– stores are e'er opened and no story events are locked out. Notwithstanding, there are Holidays and special photograph events that you could miss plus some colors and other unlockables depend on the season and fourth dimension of day. I would've preferred if it took the route of Girls Fashion Shoot or Harvest Moon where you first in a specific calendar month/fourth dimension and then as you go through plenty days or reach a specific goal, the adjacent calendar month hits. And then you could play a year in a day, sure, but time would still pass too. It's withal much better than Trendsetters, where you could beat the entire game in the same calendar month. I'm happy I'll be seeing other seasons as I work on completing the game.

The main result though is that you lot tin can still do so much in a day and fourth dimension isn't a cistron–its just how much time you lot put into it. An example is one of the final things you lot do in the game is help a sure graphic symbol get married to someone she met considering of the outfit you lot made her for the first time. For me, this happened similar… a twenty-four hours ago tops.

Or characters mentioning how it's been a few days when it has only been a few hours at most. It kind of takes you out of information technology a fleck and while I don't mind not having to wait a number of days to progress, it feels like the real time system is useless beyond sure events.

I of the nice things though is everything is a lot more fluid in the game. Things around y'all volition move and you can even go places without existence invited.

While you won't accept everywhere right away, being able to freely travel around and explore is actually overnice. People will as well wander around a lot more and then you won't always see the same people in the aforementioned places.

Finally though, I want to bring upward some localization stuff. Nihon received the game roughly a year and a half ago. Europe got the game nearly a year agone. North America finally got this game about a week and a half ago. And I tin't effigy out why we were delayed– the simply thing I've seen removed is the option to pick what currency you use. All the grammer, the manner terms (I have learned what Wellies are now), the spelling… Information technology is ALL British English. "Mum", "Colours", etc. It was not even changed. Would we even have gotten the game if they didn't just bring the PAL version over? It doesn't seem like it and that is pretty heartbreaking. We've ever gotten the games pretty close to eachother and this just feels sort of… cheap. Non only did we wait for a long time, but there were no changes– nosotros even so have the European versions of the styles as well and when y'all've played the US versions previously, y'all await at this and just don't take that instant recognition because these are completely different terms.

The Localized version too changed some of the NPC's appearances which I guess was to characteristic more ethnicities. Though, I'chiliad non certain if they did a keen chore of information technology, or sympathize why they changed some of Tarquin's attire.

(Special thanks to Style Bazaar Guide and Girls Mode Guide for some of the photos–if y'all need help, both of these sites are great)

Overall, Way Savvy: Manner Forward is an amazing game in the series. Character customization is great and I really enjoy all the new features. Interior & Outside customization needs a huge upgrade though and should not have been downgraded this much. Hopefully the adjacent game in the serial can be even better!
